Jakarta. Today, MINI Indonesia celebrates the debut of the locally-assembled New MINI Countryman at the largest annual automotive exhibition in Indonesia, the Gaikindo Indonesia International Auto Show (GIIAS) 2018. The New MINI Countryman is the largest MINI model and boasts the most comprehensive set of features in the MINI brand's history, featuring a variety of innovations in terms of space, function, design, and premium characteristics. Buoyed by an overwhelmingly positive response from customers, MINI Indonesia is presenting two variants - the locally-assembled New MINI Cooper Countryman and New MINI Cooper S Countryman Sports.

Ramesh Divyanathan, President Director of BMW Group Indonesia, said, "The second generation MINI Countryman presents new standards in terms of functionality in the premium compact vehicle segment through significant improvements to cabin size and vehicle features". The latest MINI Countryman is a versatile vehicle which is perfect for transporting drivers as they go about their daily lives, be it on highways or off-road terrain. "All these advantages have served to position the MINI Countryman as the favorite MINI vehicle model for customers in Indonesia. As such, it was a really logical decision to develop the local assembly of this model. This is a very important milestone for MINI Indonesia, considering that it is the first time a MINI model has been assembled locally in Indonesia. This will certainly help the local automotive industry to progress. I am extremely proud that MINI Indonesia is now able to launch this Indonesia-Assembled New MINI Countryman," Ramesh added.

As part of the BMW Group, MINI Indonesia is assembling the New MINI Countryman at BMW Production Network 2, PT Gaya Motor. As previously mentioned, there are two locally-assembled New MINI Countryman variants being sold in Indonesia - the New MINI Cooper Countryman and New MINI Cooper S Countryman Sports. "At this launch, MINI Indonesia is presenting a special variant of the New MINI Cooper S Countryman Sports which incorporates loads of features. These include the John Cooper Works Aerodynamic Kit, MINI Head-Up Display, Parking Assistant with rear-view camera, Wireless charging, Harman Kardon 12-Loudspeaker HiFi System, and John Cooper Works Course Spoke 2-Tone 19 inch wheels that reinforce the car's sporty feel. I am sure that the launch of these two variants is going to further strengthen MINI's position and expand the MINI segment in Indonesia," said Kidd Yam, Head of MINI Asia, who also attended the launch of the Indonesia-Assembled New MINI Countryman.

Energetic proportions complementing a mature character.

The local assembled New MINI Countryman boasts flexibility, agility as well as the premium character typical of MINI. Featuring MINI's distinctively unique design, the New MINI Countryman offers enhanced ground clearance and proportional seating with high roof rails. The New MINI Countryman showcases design elements that are characteristic of the MINI brand, including the hallmark three-part structure - roof, glass field and main corpus - in addition to short overhangs, large wheel arches, and wide undersides.

The New MINI Cooper S Countryman Sports comes exclusively with the John Cooper Works Aerodynamic Kit, featuring a harmonious combination of sports vehicle and functionality. The key element of this model's strong look is seen in the large cooling inlets in the front apron, which are placed in the parking lights and fog lights of the New MINI Countryman. The 19-inch John Cooper Works Course Spoke 2-Tone lightweight wheels further complement the strong, energetic impression made by the exterior.

Five seats, with two extra on the Picnic Bench.

An electric rear trunk door is available as standard on both variants of the new domestically-assembled MINI Countryman. This option allows the trunk door to be opened and closed touch-free, thereby supporting easy access (Comfort Access). The standard storage package includes a variable load floor, lashing eyes and tension straps, as well as stainless steel inserts at the end of the trunk door.

The rear seats can be shifted longitudinally up to 13 cm, while the back of the rear seats can be folded in a 40:20:40 split. These seats also provide a variety of reclining angles which, in addition to increasing passenger comfort, also provide additional luggage compartment volume. The volume of the luggage compartment is 450 liters and, if needed, can be extended to 1390 liters. This represents an addition in maximum volume of 220 liters over the predecessor model. Another unique feature of the car is Picnic Bench - a flexible surface that can be folded and pulled out from the bottom of the luggage compartment to provide seating for two people.

Latest generation engine.

The locally-assembled New MINI Countryman is being introduced with two latest generation engine variants. The New MINI Cooper Countryman is fitted with the 1.5-liter MINI TwinPower Turbo 3-cylinder engine that delivers output of 136 hp and torque of up to 220 Nm, with the output distributed through a 6-speed automatic transmission. On the New MINI Cooper S Countryman Sports, meanwhile, there is a 2.0-liter MINI TwinPower Turbo 4-cylinder engine that generates power of up to 192 hp and 280 Nm of torque, distributed through an 8-speed automatic sports transmission. All the engines used have adjusted the power-to-weight ratio according to the profile of the vehicle, to produce the typical go-kart feeling of a MINI.

Special cockpit design.

In addition to the use of high-quality and elegant materials for the interior design, the modern and ergonomically-optimized MINI Connected Controller adds to the exclusive ambience of the vehicle. The distinctive central instruments are integrated into the instrument panel and surrounded by LED rings that provide lighting displays in response to driving situations. This is part of the MINI Excitement Package, which also includes LED ambient lighting and the projection of the MINI logo from the exterior mirror onto the driver's side when opening and closing the vehicle.

Modern driver assistance system, and high-quality options to enhance comfort.  

The excitement of driving the MINI Countryman is based not only on its versatility, but also on its safety and comfort. In this regard, Park Distance Control, the rear view camera, Parking Assistant and Head-Up Display all certainly help the driver.

Facilities such as MINI Connected XL and MINI Visual Boost Radio with a new operating system further enhance the car's modern driver assistance system. The New MINI Cooper S Countryman Sports exclusively features an 8.8" touch screen display and wireless charging on the center console, making it easier for the driver to connect their device and recharge its battery.

Dynamic Damper Control and MINI Driving Modes.

The high-quality suspension in the New MINI Countryman consists of a single-joint spring strut axle at the front and a multilink rear axle at the rear, both of which have been tested and optimized for the specific weight, rigidity and arrangement of this model. All of this serves as the basis for accurate driving and maximum agility. Also included in the car's formidable package are electromechanical steering with Servotronic, precision brakes, and Dynamic Stability Control (DSC).

Dynamic Damper Control is available for the MINI Countryman Cooper S. Two maps from the damping program are activated with MINI Driving Modes. The round button at the bottom of the transmission lever allows the driver to choose one of the settings based on the three modes, namely MID, SPORT, and GREEN.

The New MINI Countryman variants are being sold in Indonesia complete with MINI Service Inclusive, which includes free-of-charge regular maintenance for 5 years or 70,000 km, whichever comes first, as well as a 36-month warranty without mileage limitations. The vehicles are also covered by BMW Group Tire Coverage for 3 years, including replacement of up to 4 tires per year, covering the cost of the tires and labor up to 100%. This coverage extends to damage caused by punctures, bulging, incisions, bursts and tears, as well as damage from the vehicle continuing to run on flat tires.
