MINI 60 Years Anniversary Celebration.

#MINI60yearsJKT will be held in the heart of Jakarta on 26th October 2019.

Jakarta. The car that originated the premium segment of small cars has turned 60 – but it is now even younger than ever. Sixty years ago, to be precise on 26 August 1959, British Motor Corporation (BMC) proudly unveiled their newly-created, revolutionary compact car. To mark this milestone anniversary, MINI Indonesia, together with its two authorized dealerships - PT. Maxindo International Nusantara Indah and PT Plaza Auto Raya, is staging a series of festive activities related to the iconic brand on 26 October 2019 at GBK Parking Area, from 10.00 to 22.00. For MINI community members, things get underway even earlier with a start of 08.00 in the morning.

The impressive 2,000m² venue will host an event showcasing the long history of MINI, from its humble beginnings in 1959 right through to now, catering for all MINI fans including classic owners and its modern marquee together at #MINI60yearsJKT. This free-entry festival is open for public and not to be missed as it is only happening for one day.

The MINI brand has always stood for a type of originality that constantly reinvents itself – it is firmly rooted in tradition, yet always open to change. Even after 60 years, MINI continues to be renowned for popularizing things such as its signature go-kart feeling and creative use of space. In addition, fans of MINI identify strongly with the brand tenets of striking design and individuality. The MINI 60 Years Edition and the MINI 60 Years Lifestyle Collection thus capture the essence of MINI, and pay homage to these brand values. Both of these limited edition releases were launched and became available for the first time at GIIAS 2019, encompassing MINI Cooper and MINI Cooper S base models as well as 50 design pieces in the characteristic style of the iconic brand including a brand new clothing range for women, men and children, accessories, luggage, and kids’ products in the lifestyle collection.

Jodie O’tania, Director of Communications BMW Group Indonesia, said, “After taking over the Rover Group in early 1994, BMW also opened up new perspectives for the MINI brand. The first step was to present a concept version of the MINI Cooper at the 1997 Frankfurt Motor Show, offering a new outlook and interpretation of this unique small car from Great Britain. As a modern rendition of the richly historic MINI concept, the new version for the first time combined the classic values of its predecessor with the demands made of a modern car set to enter the 21st century. Six decades after the launch of a compact British car that rewrote the rules of motoring, we are thrilled to be celebrating MINI 60 Years in Indonesia. Together with all the country’s MINI communities and fans, we started #MINI60yearsJKT at the beginning of the year and continued it at IIMS and GIIAS. And now, we look forward to celebrating this special year with our friends and fans of the brand alike on 26 October 2019 at GBK Parking Area, from 10.00 to 22.00. At this festival, in collaboration with MINI’s authorized dealerships, we will feature an array of test-drive units as well as special offerings which are only available at this particular event.”

The MINI 60 Year Anniversary Celebration is a party for all MINI fans. At #MINI60yearsJKT, MINI fans will get to take a journey from MINI’s inception in 1959 in a “History Area”, become more familiar with a series of generational products in the “Classic Display” curated area, and revel in a celebratory space which includes the MINI 60 Year Anniversary Edition display cars and MINI 60 Year Lifestyle Collection corners. MINI fans will also have the chance to enjoy some retro-modern themed entertainment, great food and beverages, interesting giveaways, as well as the MINI 60 Year Instant Photo Service that is available all day long.

Today, sixty years since the historic launch, we know that very few car concepts survive such a long time, and no other can boast such a wide range of variants as the MINI. “Among the reasons for this outstanding success is that from the start, MINI met all the requirements of its time while constantly offering further enhancements. Thanks to its driving qualities and the charming character of its proportions, among other things, MINI has piqued the interest of ambitious motorists seeking not only compact dimensions, but also sporty performance and individual style on the road. This blend of diverse qualities remains as popular today as ever, with a concept likewise younger than ever. Hence, the current MINI is more up-to-date while also more fascinating and respected than any of its competitors. It combines unparalleled efficiency, lasting value of the highest caliber, and incredibly agile handling perfect for modern mega-cities with unrivalled sportiness and an unmistakably expressive design language,” said Jodie in closing.
