The objectives of MINI HOPPING – a yearly program initiated by MINI Indonesia - are to introduce the unique design hallmarks of MINI, along with its impressive power and efficiency, all in an informal and friendly setting. “The latest MINI models allow for a fun driving experience, so we invite our media friends to leave behind their daily routines and experience Bali in a “NOT NORMAL” way,” added Ramesh.

MINI HOPPING provides the latest MINI models for the media's use. These models consist of the MINI Hatchback, MINI Cabrio, MINI Coupé, MINI Paceman, MINI Countryman, and MINI John Cooper Works.

The road conditions in Bali provide an ideal setting for participants to experience the typical “go-kart feeling” unique to MINI.

Setting the benchmark in innovative in-car infotainment: MINI Connected.

Apple iPhone owners specifying the MINI Visual Boost radio can also access internet-based services inside the car courtesy of MINI Connected. MINI-specific functions can be uploaded via a MINI Connected software application and operated using the joystick, steering wheel buttons and on-board monitor. Adopting the familiar MINI display and operating logic, MINI Connected enables comfortable, simple, secure and intuitive control of all functions. The MINI Connected App opens the door to – among other things – a web radio function, use of Google services, Facebook, Twitter, and Foursquare. Added to which, drivers can even get Facebook status updates, Twitter posts and news feeds read out using the optional text-to-speech function.

An extra dose of entertainment pleasure can be specified in the form of the Harman Kardon hi-fi loudspeaker system – with 10 speakers, digital sound processing and a 480-watt amplifier – and a USB audio interface. The MINI Visual Boost radio system links up with a 6.5-inch, high-resolution colour display and has Bluetooth hands-free functionality.

MINI Sales Update October 2013

The MINI brand was introduced to Indonesia in the middle of 2011, while delivery of units started in December of the same year through MINI’s exclusive partner PT. Maxindo International Nusantara Indah. Within just a year, the brand had gained an unprecedented level of popularity and recognition within the country. MINI has established itself as a symbol of urban driving fun and an essential part of a mobile lifestyle. Based on MINI sales data from January to October, 367 units have been delivered to consumers this year. This represents a 27% increase from the same period last year’s sales figure of 289 units. MINI is a globally successful brand whose products have become a permanent fixture on the streets of modern cities the world over, including Jakarta.

MINI Hatchback

The newly re-designed 3-door MINI hatchback is a fun car to drive – no question!  The MINI Cooper S offers a more intense and thrilling performance experience than ever before. As the most powerful of the models, the MINI Cooper S comes with a 1.6-litre four-cylinder which delivers no less than 184 hp at 5,500 rpm with the help of a twin-scroll turbocharger and direct gasoline injection. In the range between 1,600 and 5,000 rpm, this unique power unit develops maximum torque of no less than 240 Nm. This can be further increased to 260 Nm momentarily by the Overboost function whenever necessary.

MINI Cabrio

The new MINI Cabrio symbolises the thrill of motoring in the open air and bears the unmistakable style of the MINI brand. This sporty car’s unique features - in terms of its design, drive quality, handling, performance, efficiency, and functionality - have been ramped up to near perfection. The electrohydraulic operation of its roof - including a sliding function – is a stand out feature. There is an option to open or close the soft top while driving at a speed of up to 30 km/h. A wider range of paintwork colours, roof colours, wheel rims, upholstery and interior trim provides even greater freedom in customising the car.

MINI Coupé

Introduced to Indonesia in April 2012, the MINI Coupé is a two-seater model, new to the MINI family, that is geared squarely for maximizing driving fun. Not only does this two-seater breathe new life into MINI’s successful racing history, it’s also a major boost to the super-compact sports car class. The MINI Coupé’s combination of engine, chassis set-up, weight distribution and aerodynamic properties is all focused on delivering optimum performance. As a result, the new car radiates the brand’s hallmark go-kart feeling with a completely new depth of intensity - and achieves the best performance statistics ever recorded by a volume-produced MINI.

The MINI Coupé is the brand’s first model to adopt a three-box body structure with a strikingly stepped rear end. Its distinctive lines are expressed in the customary MINI design language and are combined with unmistakable styling features. All of this accurately highlights both the new model’s distinctive characteristics and its brand identity. Its flat silhouette and innovative “helmet roof” lend the MINI Coupé a sporty and individual allure. In addition to the integral roof spoiler, an active rear spoiler optimises airflow at higher speeds.

MINI Paceman

The MINI brand is combining the expansion of its model range with a foray into a new vehicle class. This is marked with launch of the first Sports Activity Coupé in the premium small and compact segment – MINI Paceman.

Driven by the same hallmark MINI go-kart feeling that the British premium brand is renowned for, the MINI Paceman comes with powerful dynamically stretched coupé lines and a variable-usage interior with an exclusive ambience. With its two doors and large tailgate, plus two full-size individual rear seats, the seventh model in the MINI family complements the elegant sportiness of its proportions with a new rendering of the familiar MINI interior.

The MINI Paceman qualifies as a premium compact Sports Activity Coupé that offers sporting flair, practicality and rugged versatility. The character of the MINI Paceman - as a pioneer in the urban environment, vividly imbued with the innovative and inimitable style of the MINI brand. It targets a modern group that appreciates a car with a confident appearance, which offers infectious driving fun at the same time.

MINI Countryman

The MINI Countryman is the first model in the MINI range with four doors and a wide-opening tailgate, combined with increased ground clearance and a raised seating position. The MINI Countryman bridges the gap between the classic MINI concept and a Sports Activity Vehicle, providing the unique driving excitement so typical of MINI to new target groups that desire extra space and flexibility. The MINI Countryman also offers the best possible level in passenger safety, having received a 5 star rating in the Euro NCAP crash test.

The MINI Countryman expresses the defining virtues of the brand in terms of design, premium quality, handling, efficiency and the scope for customization – and does so in an absorbingly individual way. The MINI Countryman is equipped with two gasoline engines. Its output ranges from 120 hp - in the MINI Cooper Countryman - to 184 hp - in the MINI Cooper S Countryman. With its twin-scroll turbocharger and direct injection now complemented by fully variable valve management, the 1.6-liter four-cylinder petrol engine in this range-topping model offers by far the best balance between output and fuel consumption in its displacement class. Even more so, the engine is equipped with a six-speed automatic transmission with Steptronic.

The MINI Cooper Countryman has five seats, decked with central armrests. The rear seats can be moved forwards and backwards individually, or in a 60: 40 split. The angle of the backrests can be adjusted and they can be folded down either individually, or in a 40: 20: 40 split. The MINI Cooper S Countryman comes standard with two separate rear seats. The model also features the MINI two-part Center Rail that runs lengthwise through the middle of the interior in place of a conventional center console. Impressively, this model opens up new ways of integrating storage boxes, cup holders, external audio devices, mobile phones and other comfort-enhancing elements.

MINI John Cooper Works

The MINI John Cooper Works with a six speed automatic transmission uses a twin-scroll turbocharger, petrol direct injection and variable valve control based on the BMW Group’s VALVETRONIC system. This throttle-free load control technology optimizes both the responsiveness of the engine and its efficiency; its lightning-fast reactions to driver’s requests for power go hand-in-hand with a restrained fuel consumption.

The technical make-up of the 1.6-litre four-cylinder engine – which sports a John Cooper Works logo on its cover – has a direct link to the development of race-trim engines and is honed exclusively for the John Cooper Works models. Its cylinder block and bearing mounts are made from aluminum and join forces with reinforced pistons, a particularly high-strength cylinder head and low-weight crankshafts. The exhaust valves are sodium-filled to help provide the extra cooling required by a turbocharged engine, and the intake camshaft features infinite phase adjustment.

The engine produces its maximum output of 211 hp at 6,000 rpm, while peak torque of 260 Newton metres is on tap between 1,750 and 5,500 rpm. The Overboost function allows this figure to be raised to 280 Newton meters for a short time between 2,000 and 5,100 rpm. The MINI John Cooper Works now comes standard with a six-speed automatic gearbox with Steptronic function. The automatic transmission with Steptronic also allows the driver to change gears manually using either the selector lever or the shift paddles on the steering wheel.

An outstanding baseline concept and a constant flow of innovations provide the basis for sustained success in race competition and beyond. Indeed, a rigorously applied strategy of further development has also given the road-spec John Cooper Works models a decisive edge in their respective segments.
